New Garnet Hill sheets

I am updating my bedroom (finally): getting a headboard (see post here), and I received my first set of grown up sheets from Garnet Hill as part of their "style it your way" challenge. I am reviewing the signature wrinkle resistant embroidered sateen bedding. I requested the royal navy to go with my duvet cover and headboard (I think I am going with navy!). I love my patterned sheets (I have the whale sheets from Garnet Hill as my "fun" set) but I think the white looks a bit more adult. I like the idea of mixing and matching the two sets too though. The sheets are very comfortable (I am very picky about bedding-I don't like flannel or anything itchy or stiff). They are 400 thread count Egyptian cotton, with almost a satin feel. These sheets are smooth right out of the dryer-no ironing necessary. That's a major pro because I do NOT iron! The duvet could use some ironing but no time for that right now!

Headboards

A headboard has been at the top of my list for years, but I just couldn't find one I really loved. Then a friend posted a photo of her bedroom with a beautiful blue headboard on Facebook. I asked her where it was from, and she told me about this website called Cymax. Here is what my bed looks like currently:

Current situation: too much white space

And when I put my big pillows:

Here is a mock up from Pottery Barn Teen (from when I bought my bedding):

Here are the options I'm considering. My room has a lot of navy, white, and dark brown (my antique wooden dresser and desk) so I am thinking white, gray, or blue. I think 1, 4, 5, and 6 are my favorites.

Valentine's Day/Presidents' Day Weekend

I feel like I blinked, and we went from February 1 to February 18! February is a very busy month. H's 6th (!) birthday fell on Super Bowl Sunday this year, and he had a football themed party. I can't believe he is 6 years old now. This weekend I have a group project for school to work on, and then I am getting my apartment ready for my Oscar party.

Last Saturday I went to a beautiful baby shower in Santa Barbara at Stella Mare's. The restaurant itself is very charming, and everything for the shower was just so cute.

Saturday night I had my friend M over for our Valentine dinner. I can't believe this post from 2009 was 7 years ago! M again made us a delicious dessert though this year we didn't have the heart ramekins (I think those are my sister's). We did use the same plates from Pottery Barn Kids! These chocolate chip desserts were so good-very similar to one of my favorite desserts from BJ's, the pizookie.

On Valentine's Day I took my mom on a day date to see the Dirty Dancing musical at the Pantages. I had wanted to take her to brunch at The Waffle but the wait was way too long. Instead we just had grilled cheese and fries at The Melt (I had always wanted to try it so that worked out ok). The musical was great. I am a huge fan of the movie and soundtrack. The audience was really into it, and it was a fun afternoon for us.

I still can't believe Patrick Swayze is dead. What a talent! Everyone wanted to have their picture taken with his wax model (hopefully that's not too creepy!)

I spent the rest of the night finishing up reading for school and relaxing at home. Monday I went into work for two hours in the morning, saw Zoolander 2 with my parents, did more homework, and ran errands. I had dinner with my friend A and then we saw How to be Single. I think I was expecting more of a raunchy comedy, and I was surprised that there were some heartfelt/emotional parts too. I didn't love it, but I would say I enjoyed it overall.
