Friday Favorite: Romantic Movies

With Valentine's Day tomorrow I thought I would share some of my favorite romantic/rom com movies. I started making a list and wow, it is hard to narrow it down! I tried to do just ten at first. At least I am under twenty ;)

I want to know what movies are on your list!

Nautical by Nature | Favorite Romantic Movies

Never Been Kissed Michael Vartan! I may or may not have used vartanlovr16 as my AIM screen name in high school. I really love this movie! I know almost every line. Every time I hear "Don't Worry Baby" I think of that kiss. Swoon.
Austenland On my cruise a bird pooped on my jacket (that's what I get for bringing a white jacket!). Anyway I ended up in the ship's laundry room and this was on. I own it on DVD but I am always up for watching it again.
You've Got Mail I cry at the end. Every single time.
Crazy Stupid Love Ryan Gosling shirtless. Enough said.
Easy A This movie is funny and charming. Great cast too.
Something New Simon Baker at his sexiest. You will fall in love with him. And his dog.
Sixteen Candles There might be something wrong with you if you don't have a crush on Jake Ryan!
Endless Love I went to see this Valentine's Day weekend last year. The soundtrack is so so good. The movie is cheesy but romantic.
Hitch I've seen this movie so many times and I still laugh out loud.
Two Weeks Notice My favorite rom com. There is just something about Hugh Grant in this movie.
How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days One of my favorites. I love their chemistry in this movie (I've only see parts of Fool's Gold-hard to believe it's the same "couple"! That movie was not good!)
John Tucker Must Die Completely underrated. Penn Badgley with long hair! Watch this before you watch Easy A. He looks much better in that.
Lars and the Real Girl Not a comedy and pretty quirky BUT I think it's romantic and sweet. Definitely my favorite Ryan Gosling movie. The end of this movie always reminds me there is good in the world.
Ten Things I Hate About You I still quote this movie and I'm sure you do too.
The Notebook I like Ryan Gosling. Can you tell?
This Means War Two hot guys fighting for you. Dream come true.
Notting Hill This movie is so romantic. I like to think a famous actor will profess his love to me one day.

* I'll watch Love Actually and The Holiday year round but more during the holidays so I'm not including them.

Nautical Bars and Restaurants in LA

Making this list I realized just how many places I want to check out!

Connie and Ted's, West Hollywood
I've been to Connie and Ted's multiple times. Delicious food, cute waiters, and so much nautical!

The Galley, Santa Monica
I drive by this place frequently but I've never gone inside. One of these days!

Son of a Gun, LA
This place has great reviews and there's a ship on the front door-I'm in!

Blue Plate group (Blue Plate, Blue Plate Oysterette, Blue Plate Taco), Santa Monica and LA
Three more places to add to my list. How charming is the outdoor space below?

Cafe Jack (Titanic theme!), Koreatown
Ok, I have no idea how the food is but it's a Titanic theme!

The Deck, Hermosa Beach
I just saw photos of Elisabeth at The Deck which reminded me to put it on my list!

Shorebar, Santa Monica
I've wanted to go to Shorebar since it first opened. But the reviews aren't great (long lines outside when it isn't even full) so it's no longer at the top of my list. I do want to see it eventually though because the interior looks nice!

The Anchor, Venice
My brother in law emailed me about this place as soon as it opened. The name alone is enough to get me interested!

Do you know of other bars or restaurants with a nautical theme or decorations in Los Angeles? Leave a comment with your recommendations!

Devon Maryn bow pants in action

I live in my Devon Maryn pants. Devon sent me the bow pants and I fell in love. I immediately ordered the lobster print pair. I have pre-ordered the gold confetti pants. Three days a week I go to cardio dance classes and these pants are perfect. My lululemon pants would always start falling down, even with a draw string, as soon as I started working out. I would be pulling them up constantly. My Devon Maryn pants do not fall down and I think that is because of the reinforced, triple banded waistband.

I brought my bow pants onto my cruise and wore them to the gym and then for lounging by the pool. I had my friend take these photos right after the gym (yes, I wore sea bands-the water was rocky THE WHOLE TIME!)

Cruise to Mexico recap

No filter or editing in this photo. Just beautiful! Angel's Gate in Los Angeles Harbor/San Pedro

On Friday I worked a half day and then headed to the port to board our ship and celebrate my friend Brooke's birthday. We got a great deal on a 3 day Princess cruise to Ensenada.
That's USS Iowa in the background
This picture cracks me up-there's a weird glow that makes it look like I was superimposed/green screened. It was actually weird lighting and RAINING!

Rainbow at sail away

I took so many photos of the sunsets!

Practicing what to do if we have to abandon ship
Friday we had the sail away party and then explored the ship before dinner in the dining room. After dinner we went to the comedy show and then up to the nightclub for some dancing.
Saturday was our at sea day. We had the breakfast buffet and then A and I hit the gym. A is training for a marathon so she needed to run. I just did the stationary bike. Quite a view from the gym!

The rest of the day was spent relaxing at the pool, eating (endless soft serve and delicious pizza!), and playing bingo. Saturday was our formal dinner so we all dressed up. After dinner we saw two shows: comedy/acrobat show and then the cruise singers and dancers. Then we headed up to the nightclub for some more dancing.

Formal night

Getting ready to go out dancing

Sunday we docked in Ensenada. We walked around the shops and then had lunch in town. We didn't spend much time in Ensenada because we wanted to get back to the ship to watch the Super Bowl.

We watched the Super Bowl on that huge screen by the pool. What a game!

Seahorses on a hotel in Ensenada
After the Super Bowl we went to another show and then called it a night. We were up early Monday morning to get off the ship and head into work.
