Ready for the Rain!

If there is any chance of rain I will wear my rain boots. I hate wearing regular shoes in the rain: your feet/socks get wet, the bottoms of your pants get wet (and stay wet for hours). I have two pairs of rain boots: Lilly Pulitzer pink elephant swellies and Target anchor boots (same coloring as the whale ones below).

I love wearing rain boots to work because I can walk through puddles with H (he has fireman rain boots). It POURED on the day I moved (St. Patrick's Day). The street quickly turned into a river and I was glad I was wearing my boots!

Left to right: Target polkadots, Hunter Women's Original Rain Boots in black, Target whales, Sperry Top-Sider "Pelican" Rain Boots, Sperry Top-Sider "Hingham" Rain Boots, Ted Baker Mardea

Target rain boots are super fun. They come in a ton of patterns, hold up really well, and you just can't beat the price!
Hunter rain boots are classic. The black ones are perfect for wearing to work (I would keep fancy shoes in my office) or wearing out at night-they are sleek and don't scream "rain boots."
I love the nautical stripes on these Sperry Top-Sider boots. I think they would look cute with jeans or a blue dress during warm showers
The Sperry Top-Sider "Hingham" Rain Boots have been on my wishlist for awhile now. I just can't justify a third pair of boots (considering I live in LA). They are quilted and look a lot like fancier riding boots. I would buy these if I moved back to the east coast.
Bows on rain boots. Is there anything cuter than these Ted Baker Mardea boots? These are a definite splurge but I think you would wear them whenever there was any kind of precipitation (any excuse!)!

I am linking up with Long Distance Loving for this week's Friday's Fancies. I am excited to see all of the stylish rainy day outfits!

What do you wear in the rain? Do you love rain boots as much as I do?

Nautical Photo of the Week: Anchor Tattoo

Reader Elizabeth is sharing her anchor tattoo this week. She has an anchor tattoo on her foot for a friend that passed away this past year. Both Elizabeth and her friend shared a love of all things nautical, especially all things anchor related! Her middle name was Rose, thus the rose intertwined with the anchor.

Pottery Barn Kids Nautical

Yet again I want pretty much everything from Pottery Barn Kids! I actually had this scheduled to post yesterday but Jana of Seashells and Southern Belles beat me to it! The funny part is that we chose mostly different things to share (except for the seahorse nightlight and crystal ship). Here are my favorites:

The Carrie Diaries: First Look!

The other night my friend M was over and we were watching reruns of Sex and the City (Charlotte is dating the bad kisser, Carrie meets Aidan). I love SATC (I own several seasons on DVD) and am always happy to watch the reruns on TV. I told M about the prequel books (high school Carrie) and the possibility of a TV show based on the Carrie Diaries. Well two days later I actually received an email from Warner Brothers: the pilot for the Carrie Diaries is a go!

AnnaSophia Robb will star as a young Carrie Bradshaw coming of age in the 1980s. She'll be asking those same questions about love, sex, friendship and family while exploring the worlds of high school and Manhattan. The show will hopefully be airing on the CW this fall!

I am especially excited that costume designer Eric Daman (original Sex and the City and Gossip Girl) will be doing the wardrobe for the Carrie Diaries. You know I LOVE the fashion on Gossip Girl and can't wait to see what he does for high school Carrie.

What do you think of AnnaSophia Robb as Carrie? Have you read the Carrie Diaries?

Pretty Up Your Porch

I was so excited when I saw this article on Coast Living! My new apartment has a large balcony (not technically a porch or patio but pretty big). I plan on spending a lot of time out there and these are some fun ways to decorate your outdoor space. I don't have a sea breeze BUT I do have a nice view so I'll pretend I'm by the ocean. I've included some of the decorating tips from the article too.

Take it Outside: "Turn your porch into an outdoor living room with furniture that's polished enough for easy entertaining. Arrange seating groups with conversation in mind, not just the view, and make the space even more inviting with a soft rug."

Light the Way: "Beachify simple Mason jars with natural materials such as sand or stone, which hold votives in place."

Soften Up: "Make your porch barefoot friendly with an outdoor rug made of durable polypropylene, which withstands sun and salt water. A tufted variety is gentle on toes and looks fancy enough for the indoors, too!"

West Elm Goes Nautical

I love West Elm! I was obsessed with their modern Santa line for Christmas (I got the cookie jar and salt and pepper shakers). Now they have added a ton of nautical items for spring and summer!

Work in Photos

These are photos from my phone, taken over the last couple of months. Apparently I put H in the red Crewcuts sweatshirt and blue hat a lot!

How we spend most days: watching trucks!

It's never too early to practice parallel parking!

Land of Nod(ical)

I posted about nautical bedding from Land of Nod before but hadn't really gone back to the site again until recently. My sister has ordered quite a few things for the nursery from there and I was surprised at how many nautical things I found!

Hi, Hello and How Do You Do (I want this one for my apartment!):
