Apartment Tour: My Bedroom

Fridays this summer I will be linking up to do Kelly's Korner's Show Us Your Home series (see schedule at bottom of post). Today: the bedroom!

I moved into my apartment in March. The bedroom is still a work in progress. You can see a blue and white storage bucket filled with things I have yet to hang!

View from the door:

My family inherited these beautiful wooden pieces from my Great Aunt and Uncle. I am so lucky that I get to use them! Here is the dresser. I still need to find a lamp shade for that white lamp.

PB Teen necklace holder. The white starfish thing holds odds and ends (head phones, chapstick, etc)

My big book shelf:

Put three of my favorite city love prints in a frame. Find them on Etsy here (left to right: DC, Paris, LA)

My beloved chalkboard elephant is hiding in the corner until I can rehang it by my front door/in entryway. Usually I keep my flashlight in a drawer in my nightstand but it's out to remind me to get new batteries

Table is from Marshalls. I stuck a monogram decal on it.

Keep Calm and Sail On print!

My desk (to see how I organize my desk go here). Preppy calendar from the Preppy Princess. Panda trashcan from the Container Store. Everything else is from Marshalls/TJ Maxx/Homegoods

This blue piece is from my stepmom. It was in the dining room in my last place. My sister thought it would look good in my bedroom (the wall goes out a little so it fits perfectly). It holds my headbands, jewelry, etc.

Lilly Pulitzer shift ornaments in a shadow box, elephant chalkboard from Tuesday Morning, framed map of Australia

Lilly Pulitzer quilt that I found on clearance at Tuesday Morning. Monogrammed blanket is a gift from my friend M. During cooler months I use a Tommy Hilfiger comforter that matches my sheets (I prefer the lattice side but it's reversible)

The cable guy broke my lamp when he installed my cable (that's why it looks wonky). It had a pink base (same lamp as the one on my desk but that one is green).

Rug is from Target

The pink and white pillow case and little throw pillow go with the Tommy Hilfiger bedding. My favorite elephants from Anthropologie. These two sleep in my bed

Keeping it real-I left my humidifier on the windowsill. The pink storage ottomans at the end of the bed are from Target

The white ikea chair (garage sale find!) fit perfectly in the corner of my last place. But there isn't much room for it in my new place. I do need the extra seating for when I have friends over so it just sits by the window for now

The Cruisey

The Cruisey is basically the perfect nautical accessory for summer! Take it with you sailing, swimming, traveling and beyond or use it at your next backyard barbeque! Each Cruisey has a fun nautical saying: Get Nauti, Three Sheets, Ship Shape, Yachta Yachta Yachta, and Wide Berth.

Fits a can, bottle OR cup!

The company started after two friends took a sailing trip on the Chesapeake Bay. The Cruisey is affordable (just $5) and practical (keep your hands free!)

You can find the Cruisey team on Facebook and Twitter

**Please note: this NOT a sponsored post! I just think this is a fun nautical accessory!**

Who wears short shorts? Friday's Fancies!

Ok I had to include that catchy title! And I am posting this on Saturday instead of Friday because I forgot to schedule this earlier. Oops!

I live in shorts. I prefer them to skirts and working with kids they are definitely more practical! When I was packing for Florida I had such a tough time narrowing down what to pack. For work my go to shorts are the J.Crew 3" chino. They can get dirty and they are durable!

I LOVE these nautical critter shorts from Anthropologie. I would wear them with a cute red top and gold accessories (glitter Jack Rogers and knot earrings)

Anthropologie Sea life shorts, Madewell top, knot earrings, sandals

Apartment Tour: Kitchen

Fridays this summer I will be linking up to do Kelly's Korner's Show Us Your Home series (see schedule at bottom of post). Today: the kitchen!

To see how I decorated my last kitchen go here and here

The view from the living room:

View from the dining area (separate post on June 22)

View from living area

I found the bar stools on craiglist. I love having the extra seating. If I'm cooking (that's rare) friends can sit and keep me company. When I had my Oscar party I moved the stools behind the couch and made them director chairs

Not a home until the fridge is covered in magnets, invitations, postcards, and photos!

Nautical potholders. The square one is from Anthropologie and the glove one is from Modcloth. They are by Jessie Steele I think. I haven't figured out where to hang the clock yet

Anchor towels from the Preppy Princess

Jonathan Adler elephant trivet. Lobster salt and pepper shakers from my friend H, Tag animal shakers, and another lobster

This anchor mat is so comfortable to stand on!

I always have a bunch of random things on my counters: bowls, an elephant crumb vacuum, change jar with koala beanie baby, mini elephant dustpan and brush

Monogrammed cookie jar and whale measuring cups

Nautical Photo of the Week: Nautical Baby Shower!

This week I am sharing photos from Natalie's nautical baby shower. Natalie has already stocked up on nautical outfits for Jack. Can't wait to see photos when he makes his arrival later this summer!

The cake was made by Natalie's sister. She created the crabs with hats, whale and life preservers out of fondant!

Natalie with the cake (she's even wearing a nautical dress!)

The favor boxes were hand painted by Natalie's friend S. She painted them to match the whale on the invitation

The JACK sign was hand painted and crafted by Natalie's friend K.

The diaper cake had all sorts of nautical themed baby goodies attached to it

The sign is actually one used last year at another friend's shower. It can be found on Etsy
