Organizing: Kid Closet

I thought I would share how I organize H's closet. My employers are happy to have me organize and I love to do it so it's a win win! In their previous house the closet was tiny so I got the hanging thing and added a second bar (I got one for my dorm closet in college and think they are essential for closets that don't come with a second bar). Both worked so well that they made the move too (back in 2010). Eventually I think they will use the hanging thing for outfit planning (each spot will hold an outfit so school mornings go smoothly).

Almost all of the top rack (sweaters, shirts, etc) are from last year. Since H has a February birthday and is quite tall he could wear 3T last fall/winter AND again this year.  Some things are definitely getting short (from long sleeves last year to three quarter length this year ;) but living in LA it's really not worth spending money on cold weather clothing every year!

 Middle shelf has three bins: Blankets, Hats, Bedding (grey thing between blankets and hats is last year's elephant costume)

top to bottom: washcloths, out of season pajamas (for the rare cold night during summer or warm night during winter), swim suits/swim shirts, random (tank tops, some boxers/sleep shorts, whatever else I find that doesn't fit somewhere else), heavier blankets (for travel, playtime, etc), baseball hats (I like to have some hats at H's level so he can grab and go)

4T-5T clothes (too big for right now), rain boots

Pool/beach bag (still doing weekly swim lessons so this has a change of clothes, towel, plastic bag, goggles, etc)

His dresser holds: sweatpants and sweat shorts, socks, underwear, pajamas, and t shirts

Nautical Prints for my bathroom

I decided to switch out the turtle and seahorse art in my bathroom. You can see what I had before here. I have had a pretty specific idea in my mind for what I want to replace them with. I just got a new bathmat from the Company Store so I want to stick with blues and greens.

I know I definitely want a print of a girl in a nautical outfit or with an overall nautical theme:

Custom Nautical Flag Pillows

Yesterday I posted about my new bedding and mentioned possibly getting monogrammed pillow cases. Now I am thinking I may get something like these nautical flag pillows from design.christonium .

New Bedding

I bought myself new bedding for my birthday. I had been waiting for cooler weather to bring out my comforter (during warmer months I use my Lilly quilt). The new bedding just arrived and I can't wait to wash it and start using it! I will still use the bedding I currently have sometimes (see photos here and here) but I wanted something a bit more grown up. Both the sheets and duvet cover are actually from Pottery Barn Teen (ha). I've always had a comforter because I HATE dealing with duvet covers but I finally caved and got one. I have to deal with two duvet covers at work so I am slowly getting better at putting them back on.

I am curious: do you switch over bedding when the weather gets cooler?

Here is what my bedding will (hopefully) look like together. I used the Design Your Own Bed tool: peyton sheet set in royal navy (of course now on sale AFTER I ordered) and suite organic duvet cover in royal navy. I thought about getting the duvet cover monogrammed (just $7 to have PB Teen do it for you!). Instead I may get monogrammed pillow cases.
