Nautical Photo of the Week: Nautical 1st Birthday Party

Today I am featuring baby Benny's nautical first birthday party! I have featured his mom, Brittany of Brittany Lauren Design, on the blog several times (we actually did a giveaway for one of her adorable monogrammed anchor mugs in the spring!). I was not surprised at all that Benny had a nautical party with his mom's love of all things nautical! The setting for the party was a local beach club.

Brittan made the wooden sign. She just hot glued wood chips of beachy things and stuck the sign in a bucket full of sand

Brittany designed the whale cake and had local bakery, The Market Basket in Franklin Lakes, NJ make it. Inside was strawberry shortcake!

Back to School Series

This week I will be starting my back to school series! It might seem a little early but August 1 is this Friday (!) and LAUSD schools are back in session in just about 3 weeks. Most colleges are starting up the last week of August, just one month away!

If there is something specific you would like me to post about please leave a comment or send me an email. I have already planned posts about nautical dorm decor, back to school outfits for kids (boys and girls), and nautical school supplies/accessories

White Light White Night Event

Saturday night I headed to El Segundo for Walk With Sally's 8th Annual White Light White Night. Walk With Sally is dedicated to providing free mentoring, support programs, and services to children of parents or siblings with cancer. Walk With Sally provides healing and comfort to children debilitated by the emotional experience of living with or losing a parent or sibling to cancer. You can learn more about Walk With Sally here

I got my hair and eye makeup done before the event. My hair doesn't hold styles or curls for very long at all so I wanted to get a photo right after

This is my hair an hour later. HA!
It was a cloudy, cool night in the south bay (it actually rained for about two minutes earlier in the day!) so I brought a navy sweater. This dress actually looks whiter in person but I also don't have white pants or a solid white dress. I like to think my anchors stood out in a sea of white ;)

I brought my friend C as my plus one

There was a silent auction and a live auction (I really wanted to bid on the trip to Martha's Vineyard-beautiful house and fly there via private plane! Too bad I didn't have $10,000+ to spend)

There were booths set up for local restaurants and bars to offer samplings of their best food and drinks. I think my favorite was the mac and cheese from The Rockefeller

Shoe a Day Update

I did not plan on waiting so long to do an update on my shoe a day challenge. But it has taken me awhile to upload the photos so here we go.

What I learned:
- I wear the same shoes more frequently than I thought, especially my Target ballet flats
- I forgot about/rediscovered several pairs that are now in weekly rotation
- I donated/sold pairs that I knew I wouldn't wear again or didn't fit. There are a couple I still want to donate/sell
- I will have to re-evaluate again in the fall/when the weather changes because I have a few shoes I wasn't able to wear when I did this shoe a day challenge (riding boots, my monogrammed driving mocs, loafers, etc).
