Ask Nautical by Nature: Nautical Matches

Reader Corinne emailed me about the nautical matches I featured on the blog in this post. The original photo is from Real Weddings (Australia). No source is given for the matches. They were part of a wedding featured in a 2009 issue.

Real Weddings Australia: By the Seaside

Corinne was looking for nautical matches. I had a hard time finding alternatives but I did find a few. If you have seen any nautical match books that can be ordered/customized for weddings and parties please let me know!

Voy Voy Clothing

I first heard about Voy Voy Clothing from Carly of the College Prepster. I was intrigued but forgot to bookmark the site. I thought my dad and brother in law, both tricky to shop for, would love these shirts! Recently I received an email from Hank at Voy Voy about their East Coast Islander Signature shirts they are hoping to launch in the spring (see mock up at bottom of post).
Voy Voy Fall 2013

Voy Voy makes polo shirts and pocket tees in addition to the button downs.

Each of the Voy Voy shirts features the unique Pocket Square™ Design: a pocket built to hold items like sunglasses or an iPhone.

Nautical Halloween Costume Ideas

My readers have sent me some very creative nautical Halloween costume ideas over the years and I have loved featuring them as part of Nautical Outfit of the Week. Don't forget to send me a photo of your nautical costume and you can be featured too!

Here are some ideas for your Halloween:

Caroline and her boyfriend. She was a lobster in a pot and he was a game of battleship!

Charlotte and her boyfriend. Charlotte was a sailor and her boyfriend was a macho sailor/Popeye with huge fake muscles that had an anchor and mermaid tattoo!

Sydney (from Sunshine in the City), Anthony, and Blair (the lobster) at the Park Slope Halloween Parade:

Whitney dressed her dog Oscar as a sailor:

Nautical Bathroom Inspiration

I am currently working on redoing my bathroom. It's small so I won't be adding that much but a couple of new pieces can make a big difference. I have chosen the first of two prints I want to hang (#1 in this post) and bought a new bath mat from the Company Store. I've been browsing Pinterest for inspiration. Here are some current favorites:

Jill Bull Nautical Fabrics and Prints

Jill Bull is a graphic artist located in Virginia Beach and she designs fabrics which she sells on spoonflower. I featured one of her fabrics before in my post about Conch Clothing (the beach bag with the Sea Horse Hula print is one of Jill's fabric designs). I didn't realize it but I also featured one of her prints in my bathroom prints post last week! I've included some of her other nautical fabrics and prints below. Many of her designs are also available as wall decals, gift wrap, and wall paper

Nautical Party Revenge Style

Did you catch Nolan's very nautical party on Revenge (NOT last night's episode but the week before)? It was so over the top nautical that I just had to rewatch and take photos. My sister's TV is much bigger than mine so during Baby Nautical's nap this weekend I made my very own screen caps! I haven't watched last night's episode yet so the photos below are only spoilery if you have not watched the episode from October 13 ("Confession").

Revenge S3, Ep 3 Nolan's party
I saw the invitation and knew this was going to be the nautical party

Revenge S3, Ep 3 Nolan's party
Just look at Nolan's outfit. Overboard in a good way or no?

Revenge S3, Ep 3 Nolan's party
I love the girl in the yellow dress and navy sweater around her shoulders. She fits in perfectly with the navy, yellow, white color scheme

Revenge S3, Ep 3 Nolan's party
The bartenders, servers, and towel guys (see below) all wore sailor stripes AND sailor hats

No suit? No problem! Choose a nautical bathing suit provided by the host

Revenge S3, Ep 3 Nolan's party
More of the S.S. Nolan life preservers and is that a ship food bar?

Nautical towel guy bringing you nautical towels of course

Revenge S3, Ep 3 Nolan's party
Yep, it's a boat! (had to really zoom in on this one)

Revenge S3, Ep 3 Nolan's party
Sorry Aiden. Didn't mean to cut you out but have to get the extras in their nautical outfits too

Revenge S3, Ep 3 Nolan's party
The swans are weird but they work because it's Nolan
