My Oscar Party

I love hosting an Oscar party! Easy theme/decorations and built in "activity." I always have my guests fill out ballots and the winner gets a gift card to the movies. I would say that the people that have seen the most nominated movies (aka ME) always lose. Those that haven't seen any (or maybe one or two) always do the best. I think it's because they go with the buzz they have heard and not what they liked (I'm guilty of not being able to put aside my opinion/emotions when it comes to voting). The winner, my friend A, got 20 out of 24 this year. Impressive right?

My mom found these "awards" last year and I really wonder where she got them. They say "Best Sweetheart" "Best Lover" and"Best Girlfriend"
This is the area behind my couch. I move my zebra chairs closer to the tv and then put my bar stools in the back for extra seating. I ended up putting a decoration/backdrop on the white wall for a photo booth feel after I took this photo (see below)

The table before everyone arrived. Everyone brought an appetizer, dessert, or drink. M brought hummus and pita chips which fit perfectly in the anchor/striped plate. We also had: a fruit and cheese plate (really wish I had taken a photo-my friend S made it look almost too good to eat), veggie tray, two salads, and I ordered pizza

I had all of the desserts on my bar/counter

Candy and more candy

Girl Scout cookies! The heart box had popcorn and hot chocolate (the popcorn containers I got are lopsided when empty so I just left them folded up)

My boss gave me a giftcard to Sprinkles for my birthday. I saved it for months and finally used it to buy these. The cinnamon one is my favorite!

I dream of being able to host in my very own home theater one day. Hey, it could happen!

Did you watch the Oscars?
I am always looking for new ideas for my Oscar party so if you had a party let me know what you did!

  1. That looks like so much fun! Love all the decorations! My friends and I had fun putting on our own, but unfortunately we didn't have enough room for a lot of decorations.

    1. I love that a lot of my decorations will be reused every year. Makes it easier to justify!

I remember having friends over to watch in my tiny dorm room. I think my tv was smaller than a computer screen!

    1. I was expecting a song/dance from Ellen. Sad she didn't do a musical number this year but still very entertaining!

    1. The only ones I got were best picture, best director, best actress/actor and supporting actor/actress. I never get any of the other ones!

    1. I do serve alcohol. Someone brought wine and then I made Bellinis (Prosecco and peach) and mimosas/champagne
