Friday Five

I am linking up for Five on Friday today because it has just been one of those weeks: easier to write out a list of random thoughts!

1. I never shared photos/did a recap of the Justin Timberlake and Jay Z concert I went to with Leeann. The concert was at the Rose Bowl and it was perfect weather. We sat in the grass on a blanket and just relaxed before the concert. Both guys were awesome live. I have seen Justin multiple times but this was my first time seeing Jay Z in concert.

2. I just bought this baseball t shirt from Gap in two colors. My number one shopping rule is to buy multiple when you find something you love so I ended up ordering two more on Wednesday when Gap did a 35% off promotion. Of course now they are 50% off with code GAPSALE!

3. I am obsessed with Drake's new song "hold on we're going home." I'm not sure I can ever see Drake as anyone but Jimmy from Degrassi but I do love this song.

4. I am going to two Dodger games two weekends in a row. I am especially excited about the second one because they are showing The Sandlot after the game on the field.

5. Does anyone else have a Jawbone Up bracelet? My dad regifted me one (that he got as a gift) but it doesn't seem very accurate at all. I've only worn it three nights (I am most interested in tracking my sleep) and it didn't register any wakings but I am sure I got up at least once (like out of my bed, not just rolling over).

Have a great weekend!

KEP Designs

Kelley King, the designer behind KEP Designs, emailed me to share her nautical jewelry line. Kelley has been designing her own jewelery since her move to New York City in 2001. She opened her Manhattan store in 2004. KEP Designs features simple, fresh jewelry using semi precious stones and a custom clasp, the now signature “Tulip.” After a successful first collection KEP Designs begin introducing new custom designed clasps using precious metals and stones.

I Heart It: Cape Cod inspired apparel

sail pocket tees
I Heart It was started by college student and Cape Cod local, Tyler Poyant. Tyler started creating a line of bumper stickers that featured turning the Cape into an “L”, which resulted in the Love Cape Cod line. The line grew from stickers to printed t shirts and now includes tanks, tees, sweatshirts and bags. The line is made in America.

Nautical Coffee Table Books

I am slowly collecting nautical books. I love the idea of adding books over time and mixing old with new. Right now I have all of my books grouped together (nautical and not nautical) but once I am in a house (or a bigger apartment) my nautical books will be on display on their own.

My best find so far is By the Sea. I found it at a local flea market a few years ago. It is from 1890!

It was a gift to someone for Christmas, 1890!
It has a collection of nautical poems
and black and white nautical photographs

I got The First Book of Boats on One Kings Lane (they have book sales pretty frequently). I ordered Seashores on Amazon. These two are from the 1950s.

My most recent purchase was Rooms to Inspire by the Sea. My mom found Martha's Vineyard in Color at the book store in Sun Valley, Idaho, Iconoclast Books. Both of these were published more recently (Rooms to Inspire in 2012, Martha's Vineyard in the 1980s).

I just ordered Breverton's Nautical Curiosities: A Book of the Sea because the illustrations look fun!

What I want to add to my collection:

Rare and expensive so it may take awhile to find this!

Do you have any nautical books in your collection?
