No worries, mate

I can't believe I have been in Australia for a month now! Obviously the lists below change on a daily basis but for now here's...

What I love about Australia (plus random photos):
Aussies! They are the friendliest group I have ever met.

The beaches (minus the deadly jellyfish) and native animals (koalas, kangaroos, dingos, oh my!
Photobucket

The blokes (duh!) and their accents
Photobucket

The fact that people go out every night!
Photobucket (that's me on the right)

The fact that I get to call my professors by their first names.
Photobucket

Melbourne transportation (trams, trains, buses) and the fact that pretty much everything is walking distance.

What I miss:
My family (though I definitely don't miss living at home!) and friends
MEXICAN food (I can make guacamole, thank God!)
My apartment in DC is looking really really nice right now.
A dishwasher
Gold Fish (yes, I already had my mom send me some)

  1. The blokes and their accents...oh yum. I am still working on trying to get The Aussie to actually SPEAK in his actual accent full-time (only comes out now when he is drunk or giving formal speeches, he speaks American to me and everyone else because we all have American accents).

Sounds like your having a GREAT time! I wish I studied abroad in Australia. I love that first photo.

  2. Kate, just found your website from another preppy blog and saw that not only are you studying Down Under, but in Melbourne! I studied there when I was in college and it was the best five months EVER. You'll become addicted to Tim Tams, if you haven't discovered them already. Be sure to do the Great Ocean Road... by far one of the most beautiful places in the country.
