Gossip Girl finale: My thoughts

I decided to wait until this afternoon to post because I wanted to really take in the finale and let others have a chance to watch. I am curious what you all thought of the finale. Please comment away!

This post and its comments contains SPOILERS!

-I knew Kristen Bell would be making a cameo but her scene with Rachel Bilson was a great surprise! Too funny to see them reading the Blair and Serena roles

-Blair looked gorgeous in that wedding dress. I'm not sure what was going on with Chuck's suit. Yay or nay on the suit?

-I was honestly very disappointed with the Gossip Girl reveal. I thought there would be a twist or some kind of surprise (like Dan was covering for Jenny, it was a parent like Lily or Rufus). Last week we saw Dan writing the final chapter. I thought for a second, "hey are they saying Dan is Gossip Girl?" and then decided that would be 1. too obvious 2. too early (since that was the penultimate episode).

-I thought Gossip Girl would be someone truly on the inside. Not an outsider who got in or an outsider that wanted in. I think it's juicier if it was one of the UES's own.

-BUT I realize that it would have been much harder for the writers to wrap up the GG storyline IF it had been someone on the inside/someone else besides Dan. I thought it was a little odd that Dan wrote that book and then was also Gossip Girl.

-I just don't like Serena and didn't like that the show ended with her wedding. Blah.

-Poor Nate. He never gets a good love interest. At least he's successful I guess.

-Overall I did like the finale because Gossip Girl has such a special place in my TV loving heart. I just wanted more in the Gossip Girl reveal (or no reveal at all, like in the books)

What did you think?!

  1. I am so glad Nate wasn't with Sage! I had to giggle at Georgina with Jack! Also did you catch that Jenny was holding a bag that said J by Waldorf?

I'm happy I was right but kinda wish I had been wrong!

And Rufus with Lisa Loeb??? Lol

    1. I can't believe Lily was dumb enough to get back together with William. I guess she'll just never learn OR she doesn't care and just wants money/a provider

I liked Georgina and Jack together too. Perfect for each other

  2. I was pleasantly surprised, I liked it! But Nate was totally shafted. It was super similar to the OC ending though, showing the future.

    1. I was glad they did the flash forward. I like that in finales!

  3. Also the flashbacks were fun. Nate totally baked? Ah the good ole days.

  4. I really wished that Georgina and Jack had been something developed earlier on in the show. I mean, they were perfect for one another all along, you know?

I sincerely disliked the wedding ending too - Serena and Dan? Yawn, we have already been there. Plus, I hated how both Chuck and Dan's suits were so dumb.

Did you notice that they played Florence and the Machine for the Serena/Dan wedding moment? AWKWARD and here is why. Blake Lively had real life BFF Florence perform for her wedding to Ryan Reynolds. And then Blake has to fake-marry her serious ex-BF to the same music! I thought that was incredibly weird.

  5. Ohhh I have no many thoughts! I still don't really get the Dan as GG, I mean I guess in some ways in makes sense but looking back it really doesn't. I feel like it was a last minute decision on their part which is annoying.
I hate Serena too and I was annoyed when the put her and Dan back together this season. While I'm happy Blair and Chuck are together, I hate that he proposed so she wouldn't have to testify against him. I wish we had a big Chuck and Blair moment where they really get to declare their love without something forcing them. Ummm so we're just over Bart being dead that quickly?? Why did we even bring him back? Georgina had the best one liners as usual. Poor Nate- he never gets a good love story.
Lilly with Williams- seriously?? That would not have happened. I did enjoy Rufus and Lisa Loeb's matching glasses and I was happy to see Jenny and Eric back.

  6. I hadn't watched in a few seasons, but I caught the last 30 minutes of the finale. It was kinda easy to put together everything. Wasn't a fan of Serena's dress at the end.

  7. NAY on Chuck's suit. I was so excited for this episode and thought it was Dan but was really hoping they would go a different direction (Dorota.) Either way, I liked the ending up until the flash forward. Why in the world did Rufus end up with Lisa Loeb?! I'm still going to miss it every Monday night. It might be harder than when OTH ended.

  8. I SOOO thought the same thing when Dan made that all revealing comment in the next to last episode. I was like how in the world has every person just not figured out that Dan is GG. I knew he was. I even told my sister that I knew who it was and she was like how and I'm like how did you not?! I am so sad it's over... I didn't cry for a whole night like I did when OTH ended, but it still was sad.. I am going to miss Blair the most! and Chuck. and I agree I DON'T like Serena either! I literally have to remind myself often that her and Blake Lively are not the same person and that I'm sure Blake Lively is someone I would like in real life (I mean surely I would if Ryan Reynolds likes her, right?)

  9. I was kind of disappointed by it because I really do love GG. The whole Dan thing was a huge letdown.

    1. All I can think it that there was just no (easy, crowd pleasing) way for them to reveal anyone else as Gossip Girl. I am curious what the author of the books though!
