Inspiration: Coastal Outdoor Spaces

Coastal Living has the best decorating inspiration. With summer around the corner it's time to think about outside spaces. I haven't done anything with my balcony since this post last year (yikes) but I am finally tackling it this month! I wish I could have a swing and a rocking chair. One day!

Any suggestions on working with a small outdoor space?

  1. I think when you're working with a small outdoor space, you can add special touches with unexpected details. For example, when I'm expecting guests in the evening, I keep a cashmere knit throw over the back of my outdoor sofa -- that way people can keep warm if it's chilly at night. I also switched out the pillows in my conversation set, which wasn't expensive, but makes it look a little nicer. I like to keep a candle on the table -- not one of those citronella buckets, but a beachy-scented candle. Can't wait to see what you come up with for your space! :)

  2. Love all of these and Coastal living mag- it makes me want a beach house! I would say add some fun decor to the table and chairs- maybe colorful pillows and some fun candles.

  3. I love adding a carpet to a small space! Also mirrors, small lights, maybe a patterned screen or trellis to give you some privacy?

  4. Love the blue and white cabana stripes! Try lots of plants too!

  5. I had big plans for my patio and never did anything...besides letting it turn into Coco's bathroom spot :(

I can't wait to see how you decorate. We'll have to have drinks out there soon!

  6. We have a front porch now! So far I have 1 single and 1 double adirondack chair. Plus a side table. It definitely needs some sprucing up!
