I love hosting an Oscar viewing party. I think it's more fun to watch with friends (I think we talk the whole time!). I reused a lot of the same decorations from last year. I couldn't find my cookie cutter (lost in my move I think) but my mom picked up cookies from Clementine(thanks, Mom). They were almost too pretty to eat! I had wanted to get photos of guests wearing the Hollywood glasses I found but everyone arrived at the same time and I forgot to encourage the glasses. Next year! It was great having blog friends Leeann and Brooke along with some nanny friends and my high school friends.
This year I decided to check out the spring line to see if there was anything I loved as much as the pink dress from last year. Here are my two favorites from Katie Ermilio Spring 2013.

* I have to work today but I will have a full week off in March!
* I saw Safe Haven and Julianne Hough cannot act. She should stick to dancing. Anyone else see this movie? Josh looked very very handsome!
* On Friday night I saw the actress that plays Alison on Pretty Little Liars at the mall. Crazy part: a year before I saw her at the exact same place! Valentine's Day 2012 was the day I came home to an eviction notice so I will always remember that day! I saw Sasha Pieterse exactly a year (plus one day) later on February 15, 2013! Is this a sign from A?!
* H got into preschool! Phew! Getting into preschool here is very competitive so I am just glad he got in somewhere! There's a great documentary about getting into preschool in New York City (even more competitive than here). It's called Nursery University and I highly recommend it!
* I picked up some decorations for my Oscar party. I am counting down the days!
* Every time I see Devon Sawa on Nikita I am reminded of my favorite scene in Now and Then:
H just had his birthday last week so I am probably going to have to do some reoganizing this month. Rotate out the baby/younger toys, puzzles, and books that he no longer plays with. But these photos give you an idea of how I organize the playroom. H could and would play for hours in the playroom! We spend a LOT of time playing in there so I have to have it organized!
I've always kept the playroom pretty organized because there is a big floor to ceiling shelving unit BUT a lot of the toys were just out on the shelves (cute with a few colorful baby toys but not practical for toddlers who start getting toys with tons of pieces). I wanted to get fun, durable bins for organizing toys.
I then attached labels (with words and photos) to each bin so adults AND kids know where things go. I had some bins left over from H's old house so not everything matches completely. But I think the colors go together!

This is the gallery wall at my sister's house. It includes photos from our side of the family and my brother in law's family. Most of the photos are old black and whites of the great grandparents (Baby Nautical's great great grandparents!), grandparents, and my sister and brother in law when they were little.

I love the look of a gallery wall but I didn't want to commit to a whole wall of photos and/or prints in an apartment I might not stay in. Plus I am lazy when it comes to hanging things-I usually just eyeball what I want to hang (and it doesn't like very professional!). No ruler and pencil. So probably best to wait until I have a house to do a big gallery wall!
I found a set of cheap sailboat prints at Ikea (the website doesn't have the whole selection of prints available in store but I love these city prints and these animal ones for a nursery or playroom). I got a package of blue frames(the NYTTJA frames come in a ton of colors) and made my own mini gallery wall.
If you don't want to invest in prints, try framing postcards, greeting cards, or pages from a book or a calendar!
Returned to Los Angeles after spending four years in DC for college. I spent a semester in Australia and loved life down under! I love shopping, traveling, and of course all things preppy! Now a full time nanny for Baby H.
